VERIFIED NOTES
Historical context
The Classical Gardens of Suzhou World Heritage property comprises nine bounded gardens that create miniature landscapes through water, rocks, plants, buildings, plaques and art within limited space. It is not every garden in Suzhou, and no one component represents all nine.

What to notice
Observe a Suzhou garden through name, boundary, water, rock, building, text and view. Confirm the garden and its status as a listed component before mapping ponds, rockwork, planting, halls, corridors, pavilions, plaques, couplets and framed views. A miniature landscape is produced by spatial composition and material evidence; it does not give every rock or window a universal symbolic code. Gardens also differ in scale, date, ownership history and conservation layers.

Continuity and learning
The World Heritage name refers specifically to nine gardens, not every classical, historic or modern garden in Suzhou. Learning records should name the garden, inscription phase, image location and conservation date, separating UNESCO's serial property, the wider local garden tradition and personal response. Reservations, tickets, open areas, exhibitions and maintenance require dated checks.
