What to notice
A careful reading separates cave space, murals, painted sculpture, architectural features and manuscripts before asking how they formed places of worship, narrative and exchange. Identifying a motif, date or cultural connection requires a cave number, location, material evidence and a research source; resemblance in an online image is not enough to fix a date, identity or route of transmission.
03
Continuity and learning
Mogao is a vulnerable rock-cut site sensitive to light, climate and visitor pressure. Official digital resources support close observation, but a reproduction is not the original or the conservation site. Open caves, visitor rules and digital versions are time-sensitive and should be checked by date.
